DOMESTIC WATER HEATING SOLUTION FOR VEHICLES

This NEW Combi-Boil by Tigerexped= One water boiler, with 3 heating options. This option is used when you already have a heater installed and you are looking to add hot water to your vehicle.

Here's How:
1. 120V Heating Element
2. Through warm air from an auxiliary Diesel heater.
3. Via integration into the engine cooling circuit / with water heater

Use with other heaters

Using an Autoterm heater is not strictly necessary for the combi-BOIL hot water boiler. Hot air for heating the water can also be produced by other heaters (Espar, Wabasto Etc.). In this case,  integration of temperature measurement and safety functions will not be available unless used with Autoterm heater and corresponding control panel requires a connection to a corresponding heater. A control flap and its manual operation are then prerequisites for safe operation.

Here's what it offers:

  • The integration of a second water loop (e.g. underfloor heating, towel dryer, or vehicle cooling circuit) is possible
  • Stainless steel boiler and heat exchanger, salt water resistant
  • Highest workmanship quality, Made in Western Europe
  • Insulation made of closed-cell PU foam for minimized heat losses
  • Extremely robust, shockproof outer shell
  • Flexibility of installation and achieving 100% tightness of the connections is made easier by standardized G1/2'' threaded screw connections.
  • Minimum flow resistance - can be used up to 4kW / twin kit
  • Integrated safety valve
  • Drain valve for emptying for safe winter storage etc.

1. Using Electric Heating Element

The electric heating element can be operated from the 110V shore power.. The heating time depends on the initial water temperature in the boiler. Operate the electric heating element only when hot water is actually needed. Thus, continuous operation to the heating element is not recommended.  The electric heating element must not be operated when the boiler is dry. In such a case, no liability can be assumed for damages.

2. Using Hot Air from Heater

The warm air leaving the heater can be directed into the boiler through a 90mm connection and a air-to-water heat exchanger. The inlet and outlet are identical, allowing either side to be used as inlet. The heating time depends on factors like the starting temperature (of the water) in the boiler, as well as the intake air temperature of the heater and flow speed. It's important to ensure that the temperature in the boiler does not exceed 85°C. Therefore, the heater should be shut down in time. With the Autoterm Comfort Boiler Control heater control panel, this can be done automatically, eliminating the need for manually operated control f laps. Only in cases of extremely high demand for warm air (very low temperatures with poorly insulated cabin), a control flap might still be useful. Without using Comfort Boiler Control, warm air should be redirected away from the boiler using a control flap or other suitable control methods to prevent overheating.

3. Coolant Circuit

The boiler can be integrated into the motor‘s coolant circuit to either heat domestic water or a second water loop. Vice versa, the engine can be preheated to facilitate a more gentle start (not suitable for extremely cold Arctic temperatures). The integration options into the coolant circuit are as follows: Coolant circuit heats domestic water Coolant circuit is connected to the boiler, and while driving, it heats domestic water for showering, etc. Note that the temperatures in the coolant circuit can exceed 100°C due to pressure. This could lead to boiling of the domestic water in the boiler, resulting in dangerous steam generation and possibly triggering the safety valve. This should be avoided at all costs. Use a valve in the coolant circuit and/or disable the circulation pump to prevent the boiler from heating beyond 85°C. Boiler preheats coolant circuit (engine) Reverse of the above function. By connecting the boiler to a 230V/110V power source or using warm air from the cabin heater, the engine’s coolant circuit can be preheated. This prevents freezing of the engine in low temperatures or allows a gentle start under such conditions. The effectiveness of this method depends on ambient temperatures and the engines’ size. In arctic conditions, the power required to signif icantly raise the temperature of a large engine is much higher than the heat input into a hot water boiler. In this case, combination with an Autoterm Flow heater might be advisable. Heating a second water loop The heat energy supplied to the boiler through the electric heating element or warm air can be transferred to a second water loop via a circulation pump. This could be used for underfloor heating or a towel drying radiator. The connection of both water loops (with the coolant circuit heating the second water loop) is also possible. Like mentioned above, attention must be paid to regulating the flow temperature; a mixer valve may be necessary. Please consult your dealer for advice.

Please take note: If your heater is already installed, be mindful when choosing the volume, considering not only the amount of water you want to heat but also the available space in the camper for boiler installation (preferably in a straight line, near the heater).

The Package Contents:

  • 1x combiBOIL hot water boiler with 9 or 12l capacity, featuring a stainless steel tank and heat exchanger, in the chosen size.

Additional Requirements for your Installation (depending on your project):

Every vehicle is different, so certain components are not universal and modifications may needed. Factors such as installation location and specific vehicle type may require different components suitable for your land or water vehicle.

Water Hoses:
Similar to mounts, the hose lines in the water system vary for every vehicle. Calculate the length of both hot and cold water hoses after determining the installation positions for the heater, boiler, and all other water system components, and order accordingly.

Important:
If the water is intended for drinking or cooking, we strongly recommend checking for the appropriate certification of the hoses. This ensures that no harmful substances transfer to the drinking water and that the material does not alter the taste and composition of the water.

Pressure Regulator:
Our boiler tank is crafted from high-quality stainless steel; however, the input pressure should be limited to 1.5 bar. In all pressurized water systems, a pressure regulator should be used in front of the boiler, set to 1 to 1.5 bar, especially in systems with immersion pumps that contain built-in or separate check valves.
Incidentally, the Warm Shower Kit 2.0 comes with a built-in safety valve that releases excess pressure, eliminating the need for a separate purchase.

Water Pump:
A reliable pump is essential for providing the required pressure and circulation in the system. It must be powerful enough to ensure a steady flow even when water is being filtered, facilitating the smooth operation of the water system. Consider factors such as longevity and reparability when selecting a pump.
